Food Friday #38 - Butter Cookies with Star Sugar Sprinkles

Jojo and I helped our mom bake some cornflakes cookies last night. We also baked some butter cookies! It was our first time baking cookies from scratch and I must say, it was a success!

Before the butter cookies were baked :)

I don't fancy baking, but I'm proud to say that I've baked some brownies and cakes successfully. These butter cookies are super easy to prepare and bake, but you will need to monitor them while they're baking in the oven to avoid them from getting burned. I swear the cookie mix tasted like Subway chewy cookies.

Jojo helped me with the cookie decor, and I love these sugar stars. The whole house smelled really good last night, and it reminded me of some sort of vanilla scented candles. Lol!

After the butter cookies were baked :)

Wish I could share these cookies with you, but otherwise, enjoy the pics! :)

Dragon Fruit, Grapes and Ice Cream Dessert

I can hear thunder while I'm typing this. Just woke up from a nap earlier, and it was scorching hot! On a hot day like today, I just want ice cream and cold drinks.

I made this fruity dessert a few days ago. It was so hot in Kuching, and I thought, fruits would taste so good eaten with ice cream. I cut up a magenta dragon fruit, added some green, seedless grapes and topped them off with some yam ice cream. Super yums!

Enjoy the mouthwatering pic!

Simple Homemade Chocolate Truffles

I saw this video on making simple and easy chocolate truffles on YouTube last month. I was looking for a video on baking moist chocolate cake when I came across the video, which was made just in time for Valentine's Day.

You'll need Oreo cookies and cream cheese as the filling, and your favourite chocolate bar, can be dark, milk or white chocolate. I used milk and dark chocolate to keep it not too sweet.

What you need for this easy homemade chocolate truffles

First, melt the chocolate bars. Break the cookies in a large bowl. You might want to use a large spoon to break them into small pieces. Then, add the cream cheese. Mix them together and make bite size balls using your hands. Then, roll the balls in the melted chocolate mix. Place them in a tray and refrigerate. In about 30 minutes or less, you can enjoy them!

The chocolate truffles ready to be refrigerated

Oreo cookies and cream cheese were used in the video, but I substituted the Oreo cooking with a cheaper local version, which is Cream-O that tastes as good, and omitted the cream cheese. I replaced the cream cheese with some of the melted chocolate. I also used mini paper cups for my truffles.

My homemade chocolate truffles ♥

These homemade chocolate truffles make excellent gifts for Valentine's Day and even as housewarming gifts. Children will surely love these too. They're very easy to make, and doesn't require baking. Perfect for those who'd like to experiment. Happy cooking!

Tip: You can decorate the chocolate truffles with chocolate rice or other pretty, colourful sugar sprinkles.

Pizza Junction Pizzas with TABASCO® Original Red

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of TABASCO® Original Red. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love food! I'm not a picky eater and I'll eat almost everything, except maybe exotic food like balut (Filipino's fave delicacy). I love, love pasta and pizza too!

Jojo had a craving for pizza recently. He bought 2 types of pizzas for us from our local pizza joint in Kuching called Pizza Junction. The pizzas taste a lot better than other pizzas I've ever tasted, and the best thing is, they are thin crust pizzas!

Pepperoni Cheese Pizza from Pizza Junction

What I love more than pizzas is spicy food. That's where TABASCO® Original Red comes in! It is "So Much More Than Hot" and beyond, I must admit. Its perfect combo of vinegar, red pepper, and salt is superb for anything and everything edible, especially pizzas. Unlocking flavours of food, the TABASCO® Original Red enhances the flavours of food and does not overpower them.

If you're into American football or football (soccer for Americans) in England, food and cold drinks are great must-haves. I know I love to have food when watching movies at home too, and therefore, TABASCO® Original Red would be the perfect addition as well. You might want to check out the Game-Day Party Menu page for some awesome party food ideas, or the Pizza Perfected page for more mouth-watering pizza recipes.

I think we're having pizza for lunch with our favourite TABASCO® Original Red. Enjoy your TABASCO® Original Red today!

Food Fiday #37 - Marble Chocolate Cake

This is the marble chocolate cake I baked last night. Of course, I cut it into smaller pieces and I must say, it looks and tastes all right. It's a little dry for my liking, despite adding some vegetable oil into the mixture, but my mom gave it a thumb up. She even brought some to work today. Therefore, I consider it a success!

I have a few recipes for moist chocolate cake. I'll definitely experiment more soon (this time from scratch) and you'll see the results here! :) TGIF and happy baking!

Baking is Not (Yet) My Forte

I've just finished baking at 11.15pm. I felt a little stressed, so I thought yeah, why not bake? I wanted to bake more brownies for my sister, who's coming home this weekend, but I couldn't find the brownies mix that I bought last week.

Therefore, I bought marble cake mix and thought I could try to make it extra chocolate-y. I seriously need to be more patient! I won't show how my marble cake looks like here before I cut it into small pieces. It's now left in the kitchen to cool off, and I hope my mom won't see it. I fear that she will nag at me.

I just hope the marble cake looks better after I've cut it into smaller pieces. *grins* Baking is so not my forte. Oh well, like C would say, as long as it's eatable! Happy baking! :)

Food Friday #36 - Home-baked Brownies

I celebrated my birthday just a week ago, but I didn't have any birthday cake because I was sick with cold and cough. :( Therefore, I thought I should bake, and I did! I baked these brownies a few days ago using brownies mix in a box. I can't bake from scratch (yet!) but I plan to bake more soon. I went easy on the vegetable oil for these brownies, so they appeared rather dry. However, after a few days, I swear they became moist and tasted even better! My mom, who's my biggest critic, loved it and requested me to bake more. I felt like a proud junior baker when she said that!

Tip: I added melted Cadbury chocolate and some chocolate chips into the mix for that extra, extra chocolate-y taste! I also sprinkled some chocolate rice on top of the mix right before baking! ;)

A special shout out goes to Ane for writing a special PHAT birthday post for me. Thanks so much, Ane! Love ya!

Thanks everyone, especially to Yenny and Shemah for the birthday wishes. :)
